JEE Main 2025: A 6-Month Preparation Blueprint

A week-by-week action plan for cracking JEE Main with 95+ percentile — covering Physics, Chemistry and Maths in the right order, with the right resources.

With 1.2 million aspirants and roughly 50,000 seats, JEE Main is as much a marathon as it is a sprint. The students who score 95+ percentile are rarely the most naturally gifted — they are the ones who execute a structured plan without wavering. This blueprint gives you exactly that.

Months 1–2: Build the Foundation

Most aspirants make the mistake of jumping to advanced problems too early. Spend the first two months building ironclad fundamentals. For Mathematics, start with Class 11 topics: Sets, Relations, Functions, Trigonometry, and Coordinate Geometry. For Physics, master Kinematics, Newton's Laws, and Work-Energy before touching Electrostatics. For Chemistry, NCERT is your bible — read Physical Chemistry chapters twice.

  • Complete one NCERT chapter per subject per day (read + solve examples + exercises)
  • Solve 20 quality problems per chapter from a single reference book (HC Verma for Physics, NCERT Exemplar for Chemistry, RD Sharma or Cengage for Maths)
  • Do NOT mix multiple reference books at this stage — depth over breadth
  • Maintain an error log: every wrong answer gets a root-cause note

Months 3–4: Advanced Problem-Solving

Now that your foundation is solid, shift to JEE-level problem-solving. This is where most aspirants plateau — they keep doing moderate problems and wonder why their score stagnates. The jump from 80th to 95th percentile requires exposure to multi-step, application-based questions.

  • Physics: Irodov (select chapters), DC Pandey advanced exercises
  • Chemistry: VK Jaiswal (Organic), Narendra Awasthi (Physical), JD Lee (Inorganic theory)
  • Mathematics: Arihant or TMH — focus on Calculus, Vectors, 3D Geometry
  • Attempt 2 chapter-level timed mocks per week (30 minutes per chapter)

Chemistry is your highest-leverage subject at this stage. Students who score 90%+ in Chemistry consistently land in the top 10% overall. The questions are more factual and less time-intensive than Physics or Maths — master it first.

Months 5–6: Full-Length Mocks + Revision

The final two months should be 70% revision and 30% new problem-solving. Attempt one full-length mock test every 4 days — never more, never less. More frequent mocks without analysis is counterproductive. After every mock, spend equal time analysing it: which chapters cost you marks, where did you waste time, which question types consistently trick you.

  • Solve all PYQs (Past Year Questions) from 2015–2024 — at least 3 times each
  • Create a "hit list" of your 20 weakest topics and revisit them daily in the final 3 weeks
  • Practice time allocation: Chemistry first (aim 35 min), then Physics (50 min), then Maths (55 min)
  • On exam day, skip questions you can't solve in 90 seconds — return to them if time permits
