How to Use PYQs Effectively

  • Start with the last 3 years — patterns change, recent papers reflect current NTA trends
  • Solve each paper under timed conditions (3 hours, no breaks) to build exam stamina
  • After solving, analyse every wrong answer — categorise as concept gap, calculation error, or reading mistake
  • Build a personal "error log" — revisit your error log one week before the exam
  • For numerical value questions (Integer type), attempt these last to avoid wasting time on calculation-heavy problems
  • Track your section-wise time: aim for Physics 60 min, Chemistry 50 min, Maths 70 min

Common PYQ Practice Mistakes

  • Solving only 2–3 years and assuming that's sufficient — 10 years of papers reveal all recurring concepts
  • Not timing yourself — practising without a timer gives false confidence
  • Skipping integer-type questions entirely — they carry equal marks with no negative marking
  • Revising every wrong answer immediately — let errors accumulate for a weekly review session instead
  • Using PYQs as first contact with a topic — always study the concept first, then use PYQs to test understanding

  • Month 1–4 of prep: Solve 2 PYQs per week (one from pre-2020, one recent) to calibrate difficulty
  • Month 5–6: Full mock mode — 3 complete papers per week under exam conditions
