Cut-off Context
NEET qualifying marks (not admission cut-off): General = 50th percentile (≈720×50% area, varies year to year, typically 120–140 marks). SC/ST/OBC = 40th percentile. PH = 45th percentile. These are just qualifying thresholds — actual MBBS admission cut-offs are far higher (500+ for government seats).
Scoring Strategy
Biology is 50% of the exam — treat it as your primary subject
90 of 180 questions are Biology (Botany + Zoology). A candidate scoring 360/360 in Biology and 200/360 in Physics+Chemistry scores 560 — enough for government MBBS in several states. Biology is the highest-leverage subject by a large margin.
NCERT lines are the cut-off decider
In NEET's 650–700 score range, the differentiating factor is NCERT verbatim recall — not beyond-NCERT material. Questions often quote NCERT lines directly. Read NCERT Biology at least 5–6 times before the exam.
Negative marking is severe at 720 total
