NCERT is the only textbook — read every line, every table, every diagram
NEET Biology does not test beyond NCERT. Questions like 'which enzyme is absent in which organism' come directly from NCERT tables. Students who skip tables lose 4–8 marks.
Read NCERT three times, not one deep read
First read: understanding. Second read: note-making (chapter summaries). Third read (3 weeks before exam): rapid revision of notes. Three reads beat one 'thorough' read.
Draw every biology diagram at least twice
Heart chambers, nephron, neuron, ovary, leaf cross-section — 20% of NEET Biology questions test diagrams. Drawing from memory fixes them better than re-reading.
Genetics: practise Punnett squares until automatic
Genetics is 10–14 questions per NEET — the highest weightage topic. Dihybrid crosses, blood group inheritance, linked genes — each has a template. Learn the template, not the logic each time.
Make a personal "one-liners" revision book
After each NCERT chapter, write 10–15 one-liner facts that could be tested. Review this book daily in the last 60 days. One-liners replace 80% of your revision time.
Plant Kingdom vs Animal Kingdom: use mnemonics
Classification is pure memory. Create mnemonics for class characteristics (e.g., 'Do Cats Make Good House Pets' for Deuteromycetes, Chytridiomycota, etc.). Your mnemonics beat any list.
Common Weak Areas & Fixes
Ecosystem (energy flow, biogeochemical cycles)
Energy pyramids and nutrient cycles are annual NEET topics. Draw the Nitrogen cycle and Carbon cycle from memory — label every arrow. Questions test which organisms do which step.
Molecular Biology (transcription, translation, DNA replication)
Learn the enzyme at each step: Helicase → Primase → DNA polymerase III → DNA polymerase I → Ligase. NEET asks which enzyme does what — a 5-minute memorisation task with direct payoff.
Biotechnology (PCR, rDNA, applications)
Biotechnology is one of the most predictable NEET topics — the same 6 processes (PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction digestion, transformation, blotting, cloning) appear annually.
Plant Physiology (photosynthesis, respiration, growth hormones)
C3 vs C4 vs CAM, cyclic vs non-cyclic photophosphorylation, Krebs cycle steps — draw each pathway on paper until you can reproduce it. Questions test the sequence of steps.
